i hope you're just using wire nuts to test this all out. ;) all those connections should be crimped or soldered/heat shrinked.

wire nuts FTL.

i wired mine up to a seperate 30A relay from autozone. works like a charm, and i ran heavier wire to the housings, and ran new grounds too. i use H3 100w bulbs instead of 55w bulbs.

D'oh! I'm Sorry HellsLegion... I wasn't thinking it through. You had the red/black right to begin with, just the white/green was wrong.

EDIT: Hey I see you got 'em going. What'd it take? Just the white/green on the relay to the ground and the switch side how you had it to begin with?

Yeah I rewired mine with a nice relay in the engine bay and I run 130W Hella H3 bulbs.

HellsLegion if you have or ever get the time...can you do a write-up of your experience in wiring up the fogs? It would be a very big help for us pre89 guys. Just reading your posts gives me the motivation to try it for myself. The only thing I'm scared of is messing up the electrical system of my car. Help us please!

So what does obtaining a relay have to do with the foglight mod? Does the relay give a separate power connection for the foglight switch? Where would the relay mount to and how does it get its power?

I followed the "IdealSupra's Famous Foglight Rewire" from the faqs to show what needs to be done. then followed the sogi rewire write up for the pre 89 wire colors. If that helps

In Jeff's original foglight rewire statement on the first page, the 12VDC power source is the cruise control relay...am i right?

Does that mean once the foglight rewire is complete, we have to turn on the cruise control for the fogs to work by themselves?

No. What you do is cut the red/black wire on the fog switch. And the red/black wire on the CC switch. Then you get the little wire twisties(for lack of a better word at 12AM) and splice all 3 together. Now you have a constant 12v of power to the fogs and toy uor cruise control!

The red/black wire from the fog switch and red/black wire on the CC switch are only two wires? What is the third wire?

The red and black wire coming from the dash that was originally attached to the cruise control.

Basically this

don't worry about the 89 and up people they got the rewire with photos and stuff already, so they got it easier than we did. The relay will supply more so you can use stronger fog light bulbs without burning up the circuits.

Just did mine a couple hours ago.

I tested the yellow wire referred to in the version I posted up..... don't use it.

I fed the switches red/green from the solid green line (dash illumination).
Then grounded the relay's white/green wire..... took a while I was looking in the wrong place for the relay. I couldn't find my TSRM (the wife's been cleaning.

My fogs com on only if the parking/marker lights are on.... just how I wanted them.

Maybe I'll do a complete write up in a few days on how to do it. CRE's method is good as well. He fed the +12VDC source with the switched power provided through the TAIL fuse (illumination).

There are many ways you can wire it up, it's up to you to decide how you want it done.
