My car's throwing a code 31 and my AFM looks filthy so I probably need to just buck up and buy one. My car still runs pretty decent.....but once in awhile it will die off of deceleration when coming to a stop. Thanks for the offer though....that was damn nice of you.

Today is the beginning of pulling the motor. Rather than list all of my plans, I'll just update as I go.

I don't have a completion date; but, don't plan to lolly-gag. :)

Ok...on to the pics...

Pic #1 - Safety!! Here are my Wheel Chocks...

Here are a couple of pics of where I stopped this evening.

At this point, all fluids are out along with some of the peripheral stuff up top.

A little ways to go yet...

Quite a bit; but, here's the major stuff:

Rebuild Tranny - All Marlin Crawler Stuff
Replace Clutch - ACT XTSS
Replace Bearings - Haven't done this yet since my BHG

I already miss her. ;)

Here's what I was able to do this weekend. I had to work this last Saturday which REALLY way-laid my progress.

As of now, all that needs to be done is wire harness management and then she's out.

Here's a pic of the drive line (black one) that will likely not be going back in because the carrier bearing is bad. Shaftmasters one piece aluminum is in my near future. :)

Here is the intake manifold and other misc. items on the bench.

Here are a couple shots of the lower runners. Yep, caked with oil....

And lastly, here's a current shot of the engine bay.

Hey Kenny, looks like this is the right time. The parts we talked about will be shipped-UPS-on monday. I definitely think you will see a difference with the extrude honed plenum, those runners look much different than the ones in your pic.

Sounds great Fred!

I'm sure the tranny rebuild will take me a bit of time so don't worry if you're not able to ship it on Monday. Just whenever you can...

I'm really considering sending off one of my spare heads for a port and polish job too. That'll really compliment the manifold you're sending. :)

Ok. I was able to get about an hour in tonight. The harness is completely free and all peripherals disconnected. Motor mounts loosened and all underbracing gone. The tranny is currently supported by a 2x4 and the only thing left to do before the engine is out is remove the shifter.

So, my next post should include pics of an empty engine bay. :)

She's out!

The removal was just about flawless. No real problems to speak of. Just as I got the engine up off the mounts and free hanging, a friend showed up to help with the final pull. It was perfect timing!

I'll post more pics in a couple of days; but, here's what I've got so far.

Here's yours truly standing next to the little beast! :)

Here's yours truly doing a little Engine Bay Surfing! :biglaugh:

And here's a little bit of motor mount carnage... (yes, both mounts were busted)

Thanks for the compliments!

Yeah, the IC pipe thing was definitely worth a chuckle. And if that's the biggest mistake I make with the car, I'll be pretty happy!

The ShineAutoProject lips are very nice. Also VERY pricey in my opinion. But hey...good stuff don't come cheap. :)

Here's a date written on the tranny. It says 12/21. I wish there was a year written on it too.

Got a little more work done tonight. Here's the clutch. This is an 'F1 Racing' 'Stage II' Clutch. One that I will NEVER buy again or recommend to anyone.

This clutch slipped on my first run after a 500 mile proper break in and only got worse from there. It has approximately 5k miles on it.

I found the rattle I was looking for. It's right here. Notice the excessive wear on left image. The wear was only on the one side.

I could probably get away with just replacing the pin that is worn; but, I think I'll just get a whole new clutch fork.

Doesn't it look clean? This is after about 5 minutes in the parts washer.

Here's a shot of my Fidanza Flywheel that is held in by ARP's. I have a brand new insert waiting to go on.

And here's the last pic for tonight. A shot inside the bellhousing. After seeing this, I suspect that I'm going to find a leaking rear main seal.
