Ironically it's the most reliable car I've owned to date.

Ditto, I've said this like 50 times by now on this side, but before I swapped in the 2jzgte...I tried to blow up my 7m...got tired of it not dieing and just went with the swap. Regular maintenance and DDing this car since I've owned it.

6 1/2 years in the Supra, 12 in Toyotas.

Cars I've owned:
96-98 - 88 Hyundai Excel GLS (hand me down from my dad)
98-99 - 85 Celica GTS (22RE, didn't know much about cars back then and let it overheat 1 too many times, chassis went to a guy in Wisconsin that rolled one after a fresh engine rebuild)
99-04 - 95 Celica ST (the Rallycross wonder, broke 2 motor mounts and welds on the shock tower only to be taken out by a 15 yo on a 750cc Ninja)
04-?? - 87 Supra Turbo Targa

I became a Supra fanatic 10 years ago, but I didn't buy my first one until about 7 and a half years ago.

I had to walk without boots to work for years saving for mine, it was uphill bothways and winter all year around. All the while fighting off ice weasels.
Bah, that's nothing. I had to walk without FEET, because they hadn't been invented yet. Moving around on bloody stumps in subzero weather all year really takes it out of you.

Wait did I say without boots? What I meant was because I had no legs of any kind and had to drag my torso along with one arm because the other hadn't grown yet.

Technically I've never owned a Supra, it's always belonged to my Dad. That being said, I've been "in the game" so to speak seriously since around '98-99'ish I think, though I was an "enthusiast" long before that.

I remember when my dad picked up his 86 MK2 from the dealership in like 90-91'ish, it was cool. Then after he sold it, I remember going with him to look and pick out a replacement MK3, and we finally found the one he/I worked on in 1998 IIRC. I've been into Toyotas/Supras/AE86's since I was around 4-5. I was born in '86.

Wow, I always thought you were older than me... damn avatar. :p

Shit, now I'm starting to feel really old. I bought my first Supra in... lemme think... dammit, must have been the early 90's. It was after the first marriage crumbled like ice re-entering the atmosphere, so probably '92. Six more Mk2s followed, then my old Mk3, then this car. So that would be... 18 years and counting. The car before that was still a Toyota - got an 82 Celica, 22R, that was eventually retired with over a million miles on the clock.

A million miles? You drive a lot man... I doubt I've put even 100k on ALL my cars combined in the ~10 years I've been driving.

Its been 2 years this month, I had a 89 then sold it, then bout the 92 1.5 years ago

Hah, I would have bought your car if I had the cash when the guy put it up for sale the first time...

never owned one. but i will own one someday. but i have worked on mk3's

Whatever you do, keep the Miata for a DD man. Only a fool would have *only* a Supra to drive. ;)

You TRIED to kill a 7m and failed? Color me impressed haha... Reminds me of when we tried to kill the VG30ET in my friend's 88 Z. Couldn't do it, the damn thing would NOT die.

Coming up on 21 years since I bought mine brand new off the lot. Yup, I'm a original owner.

Owned a 86 celica before that.

Original owner huh? Wonder how many people can still say that? Looks like about 2 or 3 so far...

Pics of the Celica? Err... nevermind, second gen Celica, right? Still have your Mk3?

Ice weasels? That's right up there with my flying aligators that I had to dodge walking to school as a kid...

Well, that makes original owner number three so far?

SOOOO... does anyone care to take a guess at how much we've spent on these things over the years? I don't think I do. :p
