2 is a fuel pulsation damper, I dont know why you would eliminate it, your stock flex line will bolt right up, unless your redoing the fuel system also.

If you dont have spark, continuing on in the flow chart is pointless, as is checking compression.
Do you have any way of checking signals? Like injector pulse and coil signals? Smelling the exhaust doesn't count as verifying injector pulse.
In my experience, if you R&R a spindle, you need to re-align. No matter how many marks, or other steps you take. It always makes changes to the readings. They may be small changes, but small changes (when it comes to alignment) count.
