wheel bearing i bet. when its making the noise turn a little in both directions, if it stops for that second or 2 then its the wheel bearing. you can jack up the car and feel for wheel play. my right front was out when i got the car...i didnt notice it at first, just wrote it off as road noise...
THANKS jdub!!! i never knew THATS why people use the lex afm, i always thought it was just for more volume to help the system breathe...only had the car a few weeks now, havnt gotten around to searching much yet...sorry.
+1, blow out the spark plug boots, scuff the plugs a little to remove the white chaulky stuff, then try again. thats only if you dont have access to an air compressor, compression/leakdown tester, or a coolant pressure tester. if you dont have any of the 3 things, then all you can really do is...
good catch...but not considered a "panel", i wouldve said the same but i was meaning the parts that will accept 89+ parts, so for example, i try and use the left side switch panel, itd work but it has cruise buttons in it. i have a pre-89 center bezel...or whatever you call it, the only thing...
stock boost gauge? looks like youre just above 8 right? with 2 shims i stay under fc, but with that 3rd washer she pulled excellent untill about 5k and cut out. dont know exactly what the boost was (still have the stock gauge) but i think the tsrm manual says 12-14psi
obviously fuel cut isnt a...
25mpg on the trip back, and that was sitting in some traffic, boosting a good 10 times passing people and a hitting a lot of stop lights. ill see what city driving gets me now, but 25mpg on a boosted 20yr old car...cant beat that
as far as vacuum leaks that you cant find with starting fluid, my stock blow off valve had a bad diaphram. replaced and she idles so low i can barely tell its running now..sooo much nicer!
so lets say i was planning on making a cross country trip with almost no boosting, would advancing a couple degrees help with mileage or atleast with the low end power band, 1500-3k?
ok guys found my problem. i had hooked up an a/f ratio gauge to my stock narrow band (spliced in under the dash at the ecu to be easier) when i tested the gauge i checked it on the blue wire right at the o2 sensor, seemed to work fine. anyways...after i got it in the dash i found that only the...
i was just wondering if theres common or semi-common problems with the bad fuel mileage issue.
can someone make a list of sensors that will send the ecu into warm up or retarded without throwing faults.
ill go over the harness today and see what i can find. 1 last thing though, i have 2...
fairly fresh gte rebuild w/ 5spd.
i dont know whats wrong with my car...no fault codes, even with grandma style driving and coasting A LOT, staying completely out of the boost i can only manage 18 max with 20% city driving. ive done new plugs, wires, royal purple fluids, tires at 40psi, i...
do the idle control valves (or whatever toyota calls em) throw fault codes on these cars? whats the best way to test it? im fairly certain its the problem with my stalling and sometimes higher idle, ive cleaned the carbon off of it and it seemed to get a lot better but it still drops way low and...
same prob here, no faults...not uber rich, but the stink and bad mileage is there. even without boosting i think the best i got was 18. im going to take a long trip tomorrow so ill see what all highway does.
quick question, the ecu temp sensor, the base is cracked but the terminals still seem...
good point. i can appreciate it from a competitive standpoint (should do well in a db comp) but its just not my cup of tea i guess
timmy, nice setup with the 6x9's, looks killer.
i think once i get my subs installed tomorrow ill see if 6x9's are a must or not.
i have 2 sony explode...
