Bolts weren't loose, they were snug as hell, the reason the flywheel's loose is because somebody (me) forgot to put the spacers between the engine and flywheel and flywheel and clutch.
Anyone? I know one is for the ECU plug that I don't have... another is the glove box light, and another is the themostat that goes on the dash for temperature. But what about the white and gray one?
No None of the trannys are the same Turbo Supras got the R154(5spd) and a tougher version of the a340e(Auto), and the nonturbos got the W58(5spd) and a weaker version of the a340e(Auto)
And yes you can use your Nonturbo tranny for your turbo engine, just get a good clutch if its the w58, and...
Here's an overview of the whole mess. Dash is out, Some of these might be for dash accessories, but I wanna figure out why my gauges arent working (Yes I got a Turbo 89+ Gauge Cluster).. Five connectors that I can't find homes for.
Yeah... 88 Car NA/AT, 89 EFI...
Well here's the ugly truth. I am a dumbass. I didn't put the spacers in so the flywheel is going crazy, I took the inspection cover off and the flywheel has wear marks on the teeth from going crazy. And it's so loose without the spacers that I can move it about an inch in a circle both ways...
I did that with my JDM 7M already. Wasn't really that hard. I came in with an EGR, EGR VSV, and BVSV. Told me to go get it smogged. Passed. Easy. Now registered as an 88 Turbo 5spd :D
I personally like all three engines. What I have is a 7M, And in this car, I wanna keep it a 7M because
#1 I live in California, so it's can be legalized putting a turbo 7M into my NA chassis, so I can DD it here in Pigville.
#2 Less work, as I am neither Rich or Mechanically inclined enough...
Okay, I've decided to pay a family friend (Who owns a shop) to wrench on my Supra. I started the car for him, and he says it sounds more like a violent rattle, like something is loose. Something I just discovered that I did NOT install on my car were the spacers for the flywheel. Could this...
Two clicks, Ignition and Starter. Turns out someone (me) put the torque converter on wrong. The Engine and Tranny have binded against eachother. *Sigh* Gotta drop the tranny and hope that the oil pump isint toast.
The connector going to the start - not from the battery was broken so I just put it in there, Imma try and clip a connector off of an old motor and scotch lock it on there and then give it a shot, thanks for the idea, also the starter is completely remanufactured
I just put the motor back into my friends 87 NA/AT Supra and when we go to start it whaddaya know, CLICK nothing. I checked all the grounds because I know I used to have that same problem. So, I went and got a new starter, CLICK same problem. Also, how do you guys manage to get the top bolt of...
+1 for those nasty grounds. Mine had the same problem for the longest time, then I just got anal and busted out a wiring diagram, and bought all new ones. Never did that to me again. :icon_twis
I think it keeps things from shorting? I have absolutley no idea, I know only what it says on the unit. And no, I know for a fact that you don't HAVE to have it. I asked the same question at one point, then I just went and got one wether I needed it or not, I didnt wanna take any chances.
It's easy, I'm getting paid to do it with my friends supra and my old NA engine that I ripped out for my JDM swap. Basic socket set. Make sure you have box wrenches, extensions, and a damn good pair of pliers.
Remove battery
Remove the entire intake up to the Throttle body (A few screws...
