Man, to get the block resurfaced, you have to take it all apart, and at that rate I'd be better off rebuilding the damn engine... I am about two seconds away from just putting a stocker on and selling the car.
Yeah, I know about the bearing thing, I drained the oil, no coolant whatsoever.
I just got off the phone with my local machine shop (I've used them before and they've got their ducks in a row) and he said to just get the 1.2MM HG and to just shave the head? I asked him about doing the block...
I'm basing what I do on what you guys tell me, I'll tell the machine shop to take off however much needs to be taken off for the correct HG. And I've done plenty of research on HG's I've been doing it for a year now, Lurking is a great thing. I know that 1.2 is stock size, so yeah 1.4 does...
Okay guys, it turns out it's cheaper to put a MHG on the Supra than to replace the upper control arm on my buick, so I'm going to part out the buick.
My question is: Assuming that my engine has never been touched, how much will I need to machine off of the head and block to use a 1.2MM HKS...
Sounds to me like all three problems are related to your battery and your grounding. Check the TSRM for all of your grounding points on the Supra, clean them, and reinstall them. Then check your battery terminals, use some protectant, and clean them, and make sure they are snug. And also, I'd...
Move it to the front with normal battery terminals, when I did an engine swap on my buddies car, I went to start it and EVERY LIGHT IN THE CAR FLICKERED. Scared the living shit out of me cause it was dark. Do yourself a favor and try it :)
Yuck, I hate those battery relocate things, they drain your battery because the electricity has to travel much farther, fill the wires, and drains your power. Plainly.. I think the relocate could be your problem.. Did you try it with the battery back up front?
I did the Swap thing, and after getting a BHG 500 miles after having my JDM engine in my car, I'd wish I'd just bought a 7M with a BHG from a junkyard and just rebuilt it... It costs less... +1 for Rebuild
Champion only sells the universal 90+ harnesses IIRC that have EVERYTHING on them. I bought mine for $391 :) Ask Jeff for a 1990 Turbo Auto harness, and make sure you ask for JEFF.
