The dimmer isn't different between the N/A and Turbo or the same generation. The dimmer from the pre89 models is different from the dimmer of the 89+ models. The wiring is the same though, and I think the plug is the same... just the design and location changed.
Personally I don't see anything wrong with building up and modifying the GE for turbo applications. It's a better bet working with an engine known to be in excellent shape than a GTE that, just like JDM engines, has god knows what wrong with it.
The few things missing from the GE block and...
I know, and I agree COMPLETELY! Just didn't want someone freaking out about the difference between "can't" and "don't waste you're time and money trying, because you're far more likely to end up rebuilding it afterwards you damned nooB". :naughty:
So it'll always start if jumped or connected to a charger? I'd get the battery tested and check the parasitic draw on the system when the car is in both the ACC and IGN positions.
Do you have any aftermarket stereo equipment? If so, try disconnecting any amps and caps and see the car starts...
I wouldn't say you "can't" go N/A-T with a JDM engine... I sure as hell wouldn't recommend it though. Even if the engine is low mileage, you have absolutely no idea how much is was beat up, whether it was ever oil starved, or if it sat in a yard for two years rusting while all the seals dried up...
Hehe, bimmer's have multi-intensity brake lights now? They're illegal in Colorado. Only the third brake light may vary in intensity and/or flash in a non-distracting manner and they may not change in intensity by a certain amount. Doubt it's ever enforced, but if they wanted to the police could...
Pressure sensitive brake lights, which pulse when the pressure to the pedal is VERY high (emergency braking).... nope never thought of it. I've got a schematic around here somewhere.
I'd highly recommend you get very familiar with patent research, you'd be amazed how much stuff is patented...
I just crimped two uninsulated quick disconnects to a small piece of wire and plugged them in.... I'm still trying to think of a good reliable way to wire up a switch to a shifter position sensor.
Fix it you lazy bastar...... The last thing the rest of us needs is a broken, leaking Supra dragging down the name.
j/k
Actually, I know exactly how you feel. My engine sprang a leak in the same spot a little while back... I'm currently waiting for the $1800 I need to fix my oil leak.
Uh, so you're turbo? You need to update your profile.
The MAFT Pro has more potential than the Lex AFM, the Lex AFM is pretty much just a larger housing for your current AFM's electronics, with the MAFT Pro you can reduce the restriction much further by going to a huge GM MAF or eliminate it by...
Matt's got it. If all the guage lights are out and the CC goes dark when the headlights are turned on it's the rheostat (dimmer). It's easy to bypass Just pull the plug connecting to it and jumer the white wire with the green stripe to the white wire with the black stripe. Hell, if you never use...
