I just went 3" O.D. side exit on my car, not lowered though and still gotta make one bracket (mech wired up at the moment) gonna mate it to my BIC DDP when I get it.
Welds could be better, but it was the first time I ever touched a MIG welder.

I just did my passenger side one $50 for bearing $10 for the oil seal. Took as much apart as I could and took it to machine shop that did my motor machining and it cost $50 dollars and he also had to make a tool to do it, better than the suspension shop that quoted $90...if it took an hour...
The guy who jams an aluminum rod in the turbo to stop the turbine from spinning is worried about balancing. Fail. And if you're gonna rebuild it but don't have the money, just do the quick fix, get yourself to work and save your money for the rebuild and then balance it. Who knows if you can...
If you are gonna be taking it off and pulling it all apart why don't you try to "fix" it? Mine was blowing smoke like crazy so we ripped it off and got one from buddys parts car. Well that sat for a year or two so the seals dried up and it blew smoke like crazy as well. So we take it all apart...
I found taking the turbo off way easier for this. And the main problem i have had putting it back in is where the oil feed bolts to block but I found a good way to do it. Get your drain lined up on the studs and turbo on the manifold but do not bolt anything down. Bolt the oil feed to the block...
With option two how do you really know how long those bearings will last? I went the long way on mine. I got rod knock on my 87 turbo and it had some bad rust issues. Driving around town found a mint 86.5 bought it, rebuild my motor and swapped everything over. $3500 later I'm in a 97% rust...
Just about to do this on my car and just one thing to clear up. Running a turbo here so I have two sensors to wire, ground both of them right? I'm going to ground at ECU just making sure I should ground both wires.
I noticed this too. No one in this town can put a directional tire on the right way and have the rim on the right side of the car. And are they not side specific for brake cooling? That's what it seems like to me if they are on backward the holes can't draw in any air. Thoughts?
I'm running this now and my RPM seemed higher just cruising in town but lower at 85mph than when I had the 3.91. Also it did seem to get going quicker faster and I don't much need to go 100mph+
Tried it, took sub frame out changed all my rod bearings slammed it back together, it knocked within 5km so we towed it back and started ripping the motor out. Just rebuilt it now it is out again 120 miles later with a different rod failed. Save the effort and just pull it. Trust me its balls...
