Grind the numbers off the block and stamp in the new ones, or make a mold you can fill in with clay that can apply the clay to the block and make it look like it's got the numbers, then paint it with the block after it hardens. Oldest trick in the book for stock eliminator racers in the 70s who...
I had it working in a ghetto fashion by installing a gm speedo end on the toyota cable just to temporarily get me by but the cable broke due to too sharp of a bend. I since don't have mine hooked up, but you need to have a custom cable made. I plan on taking care of it this winter in my...
You know you can make that quicksilver look like a factory 5 speed with a little work:

As far as I am concerned the limit of the stock short block has yet to be found. X-man is making ridiculous power. My ebay piston'd motor I built 4 years ago is still kicking and I can't even begin to tell you what that thing has gone through. The compression on it is 167-170 on every...
I too would like to see pics of any custom carpet work done in the rear. I no longer have back seats and would like something a little more finished looking since the factory rear carpet doesn't really reach the front carpet.
There are many reasons the boost could be coming on so late. You have to figure it out. Start with a boost leak test before dropping even more money and throwing more parts on the car that will complicate things further. Then take your tester and plug it on your exhaust. Tiny seapages here...
That car has a problem, the boost is coming on way too late which is why you are struggling to launch it. I would check for a boost leak or a pre-turbo exhaust leak.
Yes with the PT67. I don't know how much power the setup makes, but I was trapping mid 120s. Power wouldnt affect the launch much anyhow on a 5spd, turbo size would however. I ran the 26x11.5 et street with radials upfront and the car was plenty stable and 60' in the 1.6s as well. I don't...
consistent 1.63s eibochs and TEMS tokicos 3780lbs MT et street radials 255 50 r16 on the 5 speed. They actually work better than a stock spring since it transfers the weight faster assuming you have enough tire. Most people don't realize their diff needs attention and have half as much tire as...
The selector lever moved out of position in relation to the shaft heads. That really shouldn't happen unless the trans lost one of the small snap rings that goes on those shafts. They limit the shaft from moving too far. Storing a good tranny like that won't hurt anything.
Then you need to fab a crank stop and get a torque wrench that will operate to that value. I use the imact gun and some red loctite to avoid the hassle and I've had zero problems doing it this way. You wont strip or crossthread the bolt if you start it by hand, but by all means, use whichever...
A 400 is def stronger but will break too if not treated right, and it's harder to turn/fit in the car. The built-up th350 is a fine choice as would be a 400, just don't expect to beat the holy living crap out of it on the street.
The TH350 is far from bullet proof in stock form. The good news is, the aftermarket is huge for these transmissions so they can be built up and hold some good power when treated right. I recommend going with Coan for the trans. ATI will sell you one that was about $1500 and wont break, but it...
Easy fix. Put in the C16, turn up the boost. That turbo is a dog until you get to mid 20s. There's most likely nothing wrong with the car. Put in a 75 shot and you'll have an animal.
