Well with the engine running, everytime you pull the injector clip the engine has a misfire. You only have 6 injectors and if you leave them unplugged the engine will run like shit if at all, thus preventing you from finding any noticeable change between cylinders.
Listening to the engine is...
yeah pretty much. I dont think the housing itself has any sensors just the adjustable set screw, and dimension size. just curious as to what would cause the car to run lean if it was elect or housing. thanks
what are, if any, the differences between the afm electronics from supra 7mgte, lex sc300, and the lex sc400?
they all look the same the 300 and 400 have identical part number. I know the housings are different on the 400 but i am not concerned with that right now.
I recently had the 400...
reset cps before second test drive. if you cannot set the timing correctly you are gonna have issues. And if you cannot rotate cps to correct location it is not installed properly. Better to do this first instead of having major issues later.
As far as your rotors, if they are uneven or out of...
might not have had the correct verification of how or why it would have happened but according to the op it was the cause of the problem.
Now for my own well being and for future reference, what would cause that to happen to an alt? I have had them seize up before but never cause a no start...
if you have not purchased yet and have access to the car check the basic signs of bhg. oil, coolant(if any left) along with what it looks like in color, check under the oil cap for moisture or "milky" oil, check coolant overflow.
Maybe ask the po if he has had any running problems prior to...
Well atleast you got a good life out of it. I am sorry but electrical is not my strong side neither are these cars, but i am becoming more familiar with them because of this site.
Very true on the alts, i was actually doing a little more research asking questions to my buddy that works at csk and has his own little honda tuner (600whp on e85) He is knowledgeable and said to stay away from ultima, on imports. They are good for american cars and thats about it.
That is a...
In most cases the "white chalky stuff" is due to weak connection to the plugs, in my experience anyways, would need to visually see if its the same. the weak or bad connection causes the spark to track out wherever it can. carbon tracking on a plug will be distinct black lines on plug itself...
On most alts when you remove the brush housing there is a that goes through the assemble that sets just in front of the brushes when they are completely moved against the spring. A tooth pick or small sturdy piece of wire works well to hold them in place. Not sure is this alt is the same but gm...
grab an air blower and blow it out that way. Re check your plugs, check the gap, and make sure you do not have any carbon tracking already. your boots may have been damaged by the coolant, causing them to mis under excessive load
sometimes the diodes in the alt will short out there is rotating mass inside that when cranking can be shorting out, but then going away. this for some reason could be backfeeding through the positive cable or connector cause ecu malfunction creating no crank no start.
I would start unhooking the wires and pull the loom off and see which wire is toasted. It is not a ground wire unless shorted to power which would mean in the loom somewhere two wires are cracked or exposed, one pos and one ground.
I would not worry about trying to get it to short again until...
I just swapped out my ngk plugs (that i was told were oem ngk bcpr6egp), believe they are platinums, for another set of non plat ngks and still have bad fuel smell, no change. Drives just as good as it did before too. The old plugs are not fuel fouled or anything. still look brand new. No boost...
