Yeah Justin, that was a typo. We can talk about the best option. Swing by the house this weekend if you are free. I stayed home from work today as well, I think this is your off Friday.
What is the smallest T4 footprint turbo that can see positive boost in the 2900 to 3100 rpm range on the 1J? I was looking at something like a GT3067R but I think that is only available in a T3 footprint. I am trying to avoid buying a T3 manifold, but I will if that is required. Goal is 390...
If you ain't in the 350 plus club...go home :D
If anyone is in need of a PS setup to fix leaks, PM me. I will be doing my 1J swap in another month and I have a new PS pump and high pressure hose that I recently replaced on my 7M. Bought a new rack also, but that is staying with the car.
My sincere apologies are expressed to those New York forum members whom are capable of formulating and expressing thoughts coherently in a sentence while maintaining proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
I am interested. PM me the costs and availability. Will you have one ready by late October or early November? I am tearing the car down during that time period.
I would say it's cheap. Once the swap is done, the replacement cost is dirt cheap if you frag/detonate a motor. I would trust a $800 JDM lomgblock IJ all day but I wouldn't trust a JDM 7M as far as I could throw it even after milling the head and putting a MHG on it. Spend $4000 on a good 7M...
bigaaron,
Did you keep all of your swaps R12 or did you convert them to 134a? I am not sure how 134 will pull down in a Supra. I did a conversion in a Civic and it is terrible. However, the condensor on a Civic is much smaller than the one on the Supra.
I bought a remanufactored pump from Advanced Auto for $88 for the 7M. Toyota had quoted me around $270. Check your local parts house. I have had no problems with the unit thus far.
Were the 1Js equiped with R12 or 134a?
Also, wouldn't it be easy to just take the A/C lines from the 7M and 1J to a shop and make a hybrid line? Just use the 7M line and replace the end that mates with the compressor with the 1J fitting.
