You can do it but it means stripping the head totally guides seats the lot!
I had a quote of $1800 AUD to do it so I bought a new casting for $1900 AUD.
Cook a 7M head up a few times Jake and they turn to putty!
(They seem to go 0 really easily I could find a second hand one that wasn't soft on the exhaust side)

They have a wider centreline for the valves so you can fit bigger valves so ultimate HP potential is higher than a 7M as for the rest they seem to be an evolution of what they learnt with the M series.
If you're going to drive it make sure it's in the car!
(I had the supply line burst on a T04 I had in an old Lancer and would have lost the car if mine had been in the garage ;) )

Guess my point is why not spend the $$$ rebuilding the 7M right rather than take a chance on another used motor that may not have been taken care of?

I'm a bit old school so have had to learn a hell of a lot during the Supra build as I ran it stock for 6 years without an issue!
On my last performance motor I made my own billet steel cams and had a local grinder grind them to my specs and played around with lobe centres, MUCH...
Alex: There have been a few oil fires on Mk3's recently all around that side of the motor so at the very least buy an extinguisher and keep it handy just in case!
