Is there a reason you guys don't use the 2J?
I wouldn't want to lose the 1/2 litre capacity by going 1J never mind the torque loss in out big fat pigs.
Dave: I'm there in full stealth mode ;)
I've been talking with Gary via PM and he's cool about revealing his specs, I've suggested he head over here!
There are 2 vids of his car making a pass one @ 10 psi and one @22 on his site it's awesome and you can hear it turning the slicks to half...
As well as drops EGT's a bit on overrun!
Old School used to be 106 degree centres then add a turbo and you open em up to 112>114 ish to stop pumping raw fuel into the exhaust manifold on overrun! (Brings cylinder pressures up quite a bit as well per the knock your article reported)
Lunch...
Jay: The biggest bonus for me will be being able to open the lobe centres without changing cams like in my old V8 days!
My cams aren't huge so being able to shift the band around some will be nice.
He posted an explanation on SF Dave!
Seems he'd diluted the oil with fuel and methanol and fried a bearing... not too many cranks will stay straight when that happens!
The GrpA was a race car built to compete in Group A Touring car races in the 80's and early 90's.
The Turbo A was a limited run of I believe 500 cars sold to the public.
Another Net Myth put to rest I hope!
(There is a difference on duration but not enough to make it worth the effort of swapping)
Some info.

Last couple of trips up the centre there were many many dead cows that had been hit by B's!
No speed limit there but also no fences so cattle and roos are all over the place!
