Anyone ever pulled the springs out then put the shocks back in with the car on stands and jacked the suspension back up to your normal ride height?
I'm just playing around at the moment with my car sorting the new coilovers and was surprised to see that doing this my car is almost sitting on...
Malloy: You don't need to do it in 3 passes as you're just back cracking the Studs ie: You'll hear it CRACK as you undo it this is enough.
It's like maybe 1/16th of a turn no more then pull it straight back to the desired torque setting.
Doing it this way keeps tension on the head...
You do realise all this warming up is bad for the motor don't you?
The second it will run enough to drive go for it as it will heat up faster and come of the Cold Start circuit.
The longer it's sitting idling the more chance of washing down the cylinders with a rich mixture the more wear...

Back in the day I used to run a TH400 trans and after a bad backfire it popped the diaphragm in the Vac Modulator sucking trans fluid into the intake!
At the time I thought "Damn blown the engine badly this time"
It's a smell I'll never forget!
PS/Trans oil has a very distinctive smell that you should now recognise!
Your nose is a very handy tool for this sort of thing, coolant also has it's very own smell when burning!
