    HG and cyclinder bore question

    1) Cometic can get away with a rougher surface finish. 2) 83mm/3.267" 3) My shop showed me some failed Aluminium Kings bearings that have turned me off using any of their products fullstop.

Ummm it's a really nice Tumbleweed! Is it JDM or US spec? ;)

    alum. driveshaft, longer bolts?

JDub: Socket caps would be fine at 54 ft/lbs! That must be really frustrating finding Metric bolts. (it's getting a bit the other way here as Imperial are a little hard to source)

    BHG. But why?

Yep being a bit old school I always retorque anyway and I don't believe that an MLS gasket is a good candidate for a MonoTorque gasket at the best of times ;)

anyone still have an under cover?

Nash: 10c may not be much BUT if you're running a motor on the edge with timing and fuel that +10c as a start point before a hard top end pull may be enough to tip the motor into detonation and BHG! I run a lower T Stat for this reason as it gives me a bit lower start temp before a hard pull.

    BHG. But why?

JDub: Probably the most important part of the Cometic PDF relating to the 7M>> Re-torque is not necessary unless using hardware that has not been heat cycled.

    alum. driveshaft, longer bolts?

10mm Cap screws may be easier to find there and are grade 8.

    fuel lines/ system

Should just be the EFI fuse and I'm not sure if it has a relay or not (Standalone here) Hopefully one of the guys that knows will jump in! <edit>

    Will I be ok???

It will affect the cam timing slightly but 2mm should make much difference from the ideal 2.3mm in compression. (0.03 of a point difference)

Ok now go back and triple check the Injector Fuse ;)

    Hey guys!!

Porter: The temp gauge in our cars reacts very slowly and there can be a 10>20 degree difference with barely any needle movement (observed watching the temp readout on my standalone) After 30 minutes driving EVERYTHING is up to temp so frictional losses are as good as they're going to get...

    *Electronic Boost Controllers*

I think a lot of that myth stems from if you have a stock actuator like a .5bar/7 psi one and you crank the controller up the exhaust will actually unseat the flapper valve limiting your boost and people mistake this as the AVC-R can't hold more then 1.8 bar!

    *Electronic Boost Controllers*

Mark: In my usual fashion I spent the last few days researching and reading everything I could find on the AVC-R and am more than impressed at how simple it is and how well it works! (I was a bit freaked out that it was going to be hard to make it do what I wanted) It'll run 3 bar no probs so...

    BHG. But why?

:withstupi :withstupi One thing Dirgle didn't mention is that our heads while looking like a big solid casting are anything but! They're honeycombed with passages and quite weak in a few places so by over torquing them you're running the risk of deformation and in a head where the...

    *Electronic Boost Controllers*

Cross post from my big thread! AVC-R FunNgames! It dried up enough this afternoon for me to take Fatty out and do some tuning on the Boost Controller! I got all of the Gear Sense sorted did the High power settings (21 psi for the time being) and made a start on the low power settings...
