    Nick: I can't really see an aftermarket crank making a difference in flex as it still has the same limitations in length and bearing diameter as the stock crank which is forged steel to begin with.

    Not wanting to be a cock about this but it's probably best you hand it off to someone that know's what they're doing! 7M's aren't a simple motor and really not a good one to learn on as they get very expensive if you make mistakes.

    Nope what I think is happening with the fine tip IR's at sustained high rpm/boost is the centre tip is glowing and can't reject the heat and starts to glowplug so a change in heat range won't help.

    As long as you don't detonate it the Composite gasket will be fine and given a good clean up of the block should be fine! Here's a really good Gasket article I posted a couple of pages back in my big thread. A very comprehensive and informative article on Head Gaskets!
