Sometimes Teflon based and they make the rings and bore so slippery that the rings never seat and this glazes the bore so you can have a motor that gets blowby even though it's fresh! :(

While it's easy to get caught up in the emotion of owning a particular car in the end it's just a car.
You could sink so much cash into repairing this one and end up with a lemon or look at it as a chance to correct any errors/things not to your liking and move on and end...
Unless he has access to a GOOD body shop with a GOOD JIG that knows how to use it and trust me they will charge to get it straight it's only ever going to be a bent pile of shit.......
You can't hit a unibody car diagonally like that and not tweak it.

Tire wear is amazing though I'm sure these things are polyurethane!
