Never said they were going UP in price only that they're no longer Clevite made bearings but NDC's in Clevite boxes and "Should" be going DOWN in price as the NDC's are a cheaper bearing due to the way they're made! ;)
Running one with 450+ for many 1000's of hard miles with the only failure being a toasted pinion bearing during a high speed run (had a cluth LSD fail in the exact same way)
The T1 Torsen WON'T take high shock loads so maybe that's the difference!
Tig: Sadly that crack is quite common!
I'd suggest a good wash with paint thinner before assembly then using some 242 Loctite on the stud when you install it to help seal it.
I'm with Lagged I think it's a little too rough to use with a MHG as is sorry.

The GTE pump is indeed different it has longer Gears so it moves more volume of oil per revolution then the NA pump to try and keep pace with the extra demands...
