Exactly - this is the same way that I did it. My HKS has been fine so far, and I'm really not concerned about it, I'd say put it on and stop worrying. :)
Truth. I remember this as well. He says that PVC has other benefits as well, like the fact that it doesn't absord heat from the engine bay anywhere near as fast as anything metallic.

Try this. Go to a local paintshop (NOT maaco) and get a quote on a paint job - the full meal deal, painting everything, not just the exterior.
I'll bet you dollars to donuts it's less than $5k.
So now you should be able to find a nice turbo car that is mechanically mint, and restore the paint...
