Easy. When the seller cancels an eBay transaction, it still shows in search. When eBay pulls it because it's a scam, it vanishes to the public. Therefore, this was a scam.
There is nothing back there to leak oil except the valve cover gaskets. Even the block / head interface has the oil passage on the other side of the block.
The nearest thing is the oil lines to the turbo, and it would be quite a stretch to get a hole in the high pressure line that would spray...
I'd be concerned with well over 1000 at the wheels. That fellow from Europe building the rail dragster was reliably corkscrewing stock cranks at an estimated 1200+.
As always, it depends on your power goals. If you're looking at a max of anywhere around 400, I don't think the exhaust manifold is going to present a problem.
