We're definitely talking about the stock north american market engine here. With enough work, anything can be impressive - the fact with the 240 is that you couldn't walk onto a Nissan lot, buy one, drive it home, get out and want to say "Wow!"
He's not the only one. They are off my list of places to spend my hard earned coin. I firmly believe in complaining with my wallet.
When there are many places out there that will sell you the same parts - or better - the only thing that differentiates one place from the next is their service.
The 'snout' MUST face the pressure plate, not the flywheel.
There were issues with a certain combination involving stock parts - but I cannot recall what they were. I *think* the guys at Horsepower Freaks posted about them - you might try asking them - especially if you bought them there.
Hey there Tejon! We'll get you fixed up.
What do you mean by won't engage? Will the rear wheels never turn? Or the opposite?
When you put it in, you faced the disc 'snout' towards the pressure plate, not the flywheel, right?
Also, if your water pump was that far gone, it would have some serious issues by now - like letting the fan wobble enough to tear the snot out of all your belts and your fan shroud, for starters. I've had this happen to me, it was more than a little bit annoying.
All Rod Knocks are not created...
Actually, mine cost me less than that, as I was able to use OEM pistons and rods I already had on hand. I polished the crank, honed the cylinders, skimmed the surface on the block and the head, and had the head flattened in an oven.
Then I added new Clevite bearings and thrust washers...
Meet is on Sunday, Nov 13th, at 10am. We'll get together near the entrance to the Real Canadian Superstore parking log in North Vancouver. Directions courtesy of Google Maps are available by clicking here. Anyone who misses the initial meeting place is welcome to call my cell to find out where...
I pay $655 / year for mine. Full coverage, of course, and I have a very good record - tickets don't really count here, but even so, I haven't had any in over 15 years, and one at fault accident in the last 15 years.
We all thought she had found that thread you posted and slit your neck with a fork when you were sleeping!
Accord is a decent car. Still not a Supra, but whatever gets you around until you can afford to buy a real car again. :D
BTW folks, without the intercooler and all of it's piping in there, stock boost is 10-11 psi. That's what the 4x4 crew was getting when they just clocked the turbo straight into the throttle body, no boost control.
One of the local guys here did this with his 7M-GTE powered 4x4 for a while, it worked ok until he found an air-water IC setup that would fit. He definitely had to keep the boost down to avoid detonation.
PS: I apologize if anything I've said came across as 'bashing', that's certainly not the intention. All I was trying to do is prove that America looks at things differently - not neccesarily a bad thing, it's just different.
My second point is that the publicly accepted reason for American...
Actually, you were damn close to what I was hinting at. What's the easiest way to know if someone has something? When you or someone you trust was the one that gave it to them.
