Heater core is on the exhaust side IIRC, unless he means where the afm is at, then yea possible the piping around the block, turbo, 90 degree hose and the coolant hose in front of the exhaust manifold.
Intake manifold side I would say the hose that connects to the throttle body most likely.
If you are gonna convert you need the proper support mounts from an 89+ don't half ass the job. I actually like both of them I just wish the guy who I got my car from didn't screw up the 89+ conversion because I have to fix it now... :nono:
Is there anywhere else I can find the hose that goes from the crankcase to the valve covers other than Toyota? The one right behind the alternator that goes from the block to the valve covers.
$35 for a hose is a bit steep.
Turbo seal leaks usually present themselves on decel. So if that's not happening it most likely isn't his turbo. If the other gaskets he used failed I see no reason why they wouldn't fail elsewhere also, proper installation aside.
