tell your buddy to rewire the connector for the CPS while he is at it. often time that is the problem. sounds like your harness isnt in good shape. you may want to consider repairing/replacing to spare yourself from future headaches. -pete

i think oil is a key part of breaking in a motor. thats why you shouldnt use synthetic during breakin. its too slippery... and not to mention way to expensive to replace as much as you do during break in -pete
