Me too. Mind you, a turbo likely won't have to last more than a few years, the technology currently in development should make it mainstream pretty damn fast.
And then we should be able to buy turbos with virtually lifetime bearings that can produce full boost barely off idle, if we wanted it. :D
Bang on. This is how I do 'em too, and it doesn't take me much longer than 7 minutes.
(Unless I'm working on Duane's car, with a roll cage. Then it's a several hour sweatfest. :( )
The are other things you need to check.
You need to have the head checked for hardness. If it's been overheated a bunch, the aluminum will soften. The check is easy to do from what I understand, and should be free or next to it.
Also, you need to have the cam saddles checked for...
89turbo - the part number is 237025 for the turbo. I don't have the part numbers for the oil lines, etc, and I suspect I'm going to manufacture something on the spot, likely tomorrow.
jdub - I've been to the Foggy Dew a couple times. There are better places around the city, though. :)
Tom -...
The old turbo wasn't blowing smoke, it has death whine and won't boost over 3 psi. Pretty sad for a 60-1 upgraded CT, I might add. I stopped driving it immediately, but even so, I suspect that it's going to need all the usual work for a blown turbo, possibly a new compressor cover, definitely...
Close - this is the turbonetics bolt on 60-1 hifi. HorsepowerFreaks can get them. I haven't seen much in the way of specs on them yet, this is supposed to be 500 hp capable, which is more than I care to run.
I'd appreciate the oil line setup list, probably make my life a lot easier! :)
The greedy UPS driver showed up this morning with a box. The Missus paid him to leave us alone and leave the box here.
When I finally got home and unwrapped it, this is what I found. Now all I have to do is figure out what I need for oil fittings... and how to mount a wastegate actuator.
Oh...
Nope, I don't think so. Pretty damn certain I have to disconnect it when pulling off the engine wire harness.
You should get vacuum virtually all the time - the only time it doesn't is when you have the climate control set to full cold.
Err... if you're in Canada like me, skip all the US dealers and buy from Mopac. Better prices for sure, and no cross border shipping. They are in Langley, I think, and I bet they'll ship.
Someone picked up one of these and wrote a review. Unfortunately, I think this was pre-hack. Further, I don't think the review was terribly complimentary.
Anyone else remember this?
