This should be really easy to check anyway, just pull off an inspection cover and look for the rivet. Should be able to see whether it's there or not pretty easy, and it's only two bolts.
That's just an early model Supra one. You can get it from just about any 86.5, 87, or 88 if it's still got the original. Hell, it's in the Cressida, too.
Redline MT90 will be much better than the stock Toyota stuff, well worth the investment. Might even fix your problem - sure helped on my 1-2 shifts.
I'm assuming that your extension does away with the stock rubber bushing inside the shifter, this does a really good job of making a rough tranny...
