The last time I was looking, I couldn't find an aftermarket one that wasn't a performance unit. I ended up buying a used one that had already been re-machined.
I'd look for a used one if I were you - or just bite the bullet and buy a performance unit.
As I recall, the rule of thumb is a range colder for every extra 100 hp you're putting out.
So at a guess, I'd say 1-2 ranges colder is probably about right for your engine.
Is anything missing from the cooling system? Fan shroud? Undertray? Turbo coolant lines / bypass? Have you switched to electric fans?
Ambient temps?
What ratio of water : antifreeze are you running?
Guys, it's simple a matter of time.
Pulling the engine / tranny as a combo to replace the clutch, then putting it back in takes me at the least 2 days with 2 experienced guys.

I don't think so... I had a camera, but everyone showed up at such widely spaced times that it didn't look like it was going to be worth taking any photos until we were all eating.

Agreed. Any idiot (and most non-idiots) can mess up any car. Miata is a decent choice - light, responsive, rwd, it's one of the easier cars to learn with. The only problem with them is that any time a guy gets near one, the haydar meter pegs... not a problem for you.

Just got back, and I'm quite impressed. I can see the points that Kai made, but I don't think they really detracted that much from the experience.
Furthermore, there were no whales.
This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure I've forgotten someone's favorite vehicle. Send all complaints to IJ, if he thinks they are valid he will send them to me.
