Finished My Twin Turbo Supra (7M) Last Night

The best upgrade you could do from here is adapt it to spool sequentially... which is kind of the point of twins on an inline motor. Either way it looks like a lot of work and I hope you enjoy it!

    7m suicide

Mine had 215,000 on it, it ran great, but the body was in horrible shape. I tore it down 2 years ago, and now I have a different shell with a 5 speed which I have been repairing...

    Pinks

supercharged trans am vs turbo civic. It was something like 630hp vs 650hp. Of course the trans am probobly had about twice the area under the curve, and was a much better platform for putting that power to the ground... so no surprise the civic driver got his ass handed to him.

    acis modification

They put ACIS on there so they didnt have to compromise as much with intake design. Instead of designing it for low end OR high end power, they get the best of both by changing its properties when needed.

real supra news... please read if you think there will be a new supra

I don't see why Toyota would make another Supra. Really, it just doesn't make sense. It wouldn't fit their image, and they probobly wouldn't make that much money. If they did want to make a show-off car (ahem, volta) they are not going to use a now-outdated turbo I6 drivetrain, and consequently...

My restoration project - Rusty 89

Wow! Good to know I'm not the only one crazy enough to try to restore a messy car like that! I'm about in the same spot I think. I was trying to get mine all welded up and painted before winter but it's too cold out to paint now, so it's waiting until spring. I was saving all my pictures for...

BS? 15psi @ 2000 rpm with "special" headwork?

yeah, it doesn't mean anything unless they give it meaning... I've seen places that offer different stages of upgrades which make sense together, say with stage 1 parts being for performance street driven car with stock engine management, and stage 3 parts being for a purpose built race car, but...

    100mm throttle body

To quote the ebay ad: It's bad grammar but it's there.

    100mm throttle body

With a non-linear (or maybe "exponential", i'm not sure what the proper term is) linkage it wouldn't be too big to be drivable. It would be pointless if the IC pipes or something are a bigger bottleneck, but not too sensitive. Does anyone know of any big TB's that came with that style of linkage...

    torque plate substitute

Yeah it's getting bored in the next week or two. anybody else have a torque plate? I haven't heard back from ron yet.

    torque plate substitute

Someone suggested to me that taking chunks of pipe just wide enough to fit around the head studs and tightening the studs down to them would have the same or very similar effect on the bores as tightening down to a torque plate would. Any truth to this? If not, does anyone have access to a...

    What determines throttle responce?

I think the primary disadvantage with an Al flywheel is also its primary advantage. Less weight means when a positive force is applied to it, it will gain speed quicker. It also means that when resistance is applied to it, it will lose speed quicker, meaning it's a lot easier to stall. clutch...

    What determines throttle responce?

throttle sensitivity != throttle response. Throttle sensitivity would be how much you have to move the throttle to increase power. Bigger throttle bodies make the throttle sensitivity increase because they are only a significant restriction at a smaller percentage of the throttle range. I've...

    WTF is Bitron 4 Real?

Hey, this is mildly related... There is an empty office building (one of many,) called the Stanley building, in my home town. I was told it was named for and built by Clarke Stanley (famous for selling lots of "Snake Oil" in the US)

    Bose Speaker Installation

Good points, bwest. It's not a huge effort into the stereo when its competing with a loud exhaust, a lack of sound deadening, etc. I think however much time and money is spent, you can always do better for it by taking what manufacturers and their supporters say about their products with a grain...

    Bose Speaker Installation

Hate to burst your bubble, but while BOSE stuff may be higher quality than most car audio gear, ask anyone who knows about DIY speaker design, and they'll tell you that in general BOSE uses mediocre parts and is horribly overpriced... Most of the time their speakers are designed to have extra...

    Pre 89 motor mounts

Both styles of MKIII mount look like they have a bolt down the middle on the bottom side, instead of 2 off to the sides. I think it would be pretty trivial to make a plate that attaches to the subframe somehow that allows you to use the two holes on the side. (Especially if you have a MIG along...

    Pre 89 motor mounts

UH OH... I think these may only work on MKII's without modification. I read about them in yannis-supras thread but forgot that he had an MKII at the time. I'll buy them off of you and find a use for them if they're useless to you...
