for the best fuel economy you should shift as low as you can without putting a strain on the engine, and still having the power available to accel. the less the motor turns, the less energy is wasted turning it.
just be very light on the throttle and shift low. it's a bad idea to shift at low...
At least one of the cylinders is running too lean, if it's not the timing.. or a damaged/carbon-filled combustion chamber. assuming thats not too much boost for the octane you're running.
I wonder what kind of highway mileage you could manage with a 1g-gte and a standalone..
I say get the ass end of the car up in the air, put it in neutral, and see what you can find. Spin the wheels and look for sources of noise, then try pulling them off and yanking on the hub to see if anything's loose in the suspension.
download 'media player classic'. easily the best video player, everything just works, including quicktime if you dl qt-alternative
BTW, nice car, congrats on getting it running
The HKS drag supra was destroked and overbored. Using a 5M-GE crankshaft to make the motor 2.8 liters has been mentioned. There is not a lot to be gained from overboring. Theres not much meat around the cylinders. You certainly couldn't match a JZ's bore.
Edit: Guess I'm wrong..
that's because they're idiots and they think having a gigantic car = safety.
good driving is safety, not having an SUV. just be a good driver. BTW, I would be more worried about hitting an mk3. Even SUV's that are made recently are designed to crumple and absorb impact.
Nobody wants to comment on the effectiveness of the floor bar?
It's pretty looking but like I said before, it only attaches in two points... If you just welded something like that to the floor all the way across, or at least connected it to the floor somewhere in the middle, I'm sure it would...
It seems like kind of a bad design to me... With something so close to the existing body, you might as well just attach material directly to the floor. It would be more effective at increasing rigidity. With it only connected on each end it is not doing much considering the weight...
