Ya Aircraft remover!!! Wheels looks good!
I still have some of that, but I should REALLY get rid of it. It states on the bottle to dispose of within 6 months or you risk the container becoming comprimised.
I think I'll use it on my valve covers and then get rid of it.
I replaced mine when I did my BHG job and the new hose leaked after a little more than a year. That hose always gives me problems. If that hose leaks on me now, I get the whole neck assembly brand new. It's only ~15-20 bucks for the whole thing and makes sure that hose wont leak for a while.
Ya, at this point I'm going to have my spare head machined (milled, 3-angle valve job, line hone for cams if need be... etc) and tow the car to its new home. Towing is going to be a BITCH in the new apt. complex though... ugh.
Debating on whether port/polish is worthwhile. I'd have the shop do...
I haven't looked at the links posted above, but it's rather simple. I just did one on my 88 in a day.
Parts you need:
Manual tranny (bellhousing and all)
Clutch kit
Manual Clutch pedal (brake pedal as well, or just cut the auto pedal if you can't get a manual one)
Shifter (with new bushings...
Poodles, you dont get the same pressure at elevation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's why (As far as I know)
The wastegate opens at a certain pressure from the inside, but that spring pressure totally depends on the pressures on both sides of the wastegate. Up here in Colorado, the pressure...
So here are some pictures and a video of my problem. I still dont get it. It moved so freely, then got stuck again. WHY?!
The only thing I can think of is that the valve gets hung up below where I was pushing it. But I was moving it down pretty damn far. And was only stopping for fear of...
My bad, the Greddy one on the car is a 1.5. Larger than stock.
So..... I did a compression test:
First: 60 psi on #3.
Not good, but at least it's something.
Second: 60 psi.
Ok, so that's all it's got. Something must be in the way of the valve or the valve is fucked.
Third: ZERO psi wet...
Yes, that's how I knew it was stuck. I took off the cam and there was quite a bit of daylight between the cam and the shim.
Today i spent some time whacking the valve stem to loosen it and sure enough it popped back up. I used the rope trick to give it a little bit of a push from inside. That...
Thanks for the quick response, Jon.
I know I should pull the head, and believe me, if I was living here another month or two, I definitely would. I have a spare head anyways and plan on doing it right eventually. BUT... I gotta move and I just dont have the time to pull it and do it properly...
Update: Intake valve on #3 is stuck open. :(
I'm going to try to free it tomorrow, but I feel like I'm shooting in the dark.
Anyone have any advice for how to get it back in order if it's just sticking from deposits?
*Update
Got the stuck valve closed, it moved so freely. I have no idea what...
Hey guys and gals, I'm looking for some advice here.
My GTE swap has hit a speedbump. About a week into driving the "new" GTE motor I developed a bad miss. Did a compression test and #3 showed ZERO compression. Sure enough, it's a stuck valve. I can see #3 with an open valve.
Now my...
I am almost positive there is nothing specific to a supra motor that would require you to do anything special to avoid the problem you're having.
you really can't turn it? There should be plenty of lubrication if you put oil or assembly lube on the bearings at install. That lube doesn't easily...
I was in a pinch and needed belts asap. NAPA belts seem to be the gates belts, but rebranded. Micro-XXXXX or something. I spent close to $75 on them, but they were in stock and I was more concerned with saving time than saving a dime.
My roommate is a HUGE BMW guy.
Most Bimmer wheels are 5x120mm and they seem to use different offsets.
The wheels posted are called "M Parallels" and are probably my favorite wheel to date. The particular wheels posted look like replicas though...
Ya, you can either do that or swap out resistors, but my iron is terrible and my soldering skills aren't amazing to begin with. I'll try to troubleshoot tonight. I must just have a weak connection somewhere.
EDIT: just got the tach working. resoldered two resistors and it works fine. I must...
Thanks guys!
Update: fixed my boost leak, it was from the coupler that attached to the cast aluminum elbow below the turbo. The clamp was a little cockeyed and not as tight as it should be. Car is nearly all back together. Still need to figure out my tach issue and then reassemble all the...
