    Oil overfill?

So many things are wrong with this... Why are you using 10w-40? Why not use factory spec if it's a rebuilt motor? Was it to different specs that call for heavy oil? Or are you using heavy oil just to try to boost your oil pressure? (which doesnt really help, btw...) If you are leaking a quart...

The Fruition of Obsession -- 310,000 mile makeover --

Got it running. It was the wire that had been cut, but I had to swap terminals on that wire with another. It functions as the clutch switch apparently... :dunno: Car runs, but doesn't boost much(boost leak for sure) and I need to replace the mounts, both of mine were ripped upon engine removal...

Quick Help! GTE swap and now wont start, no CEL light

FIXED!!! It was the damn B1 plug. The car's harness end had one less pin and I needed to switch the engine harness pins. The clutch switch signal was what was holding it back. I have my switch jumpered, but the problem was in the order of the pins. What is odd is that the engine side of the...

Quick Help! GTE swap and now wont start, no CEL light

Wow, I was sure it was for '90. Ok well that solves that issue. UPDATE: So I got the connectors all figured out by the ECU, everything is plugged in and everything matches. BUT.... Now I still have a starting problem. It wont crank. No voltage gets to the starter to click it on. None at all. I...

Quick Help! GTE swap and now wont start, no CEL light

Update, I got power to the B+ pinout on the ecu, it seems to be getting power. My voltmeter is on the fritz, so I think it was just being weird last night. That, and I'd been in the garage for literally 18 hours with only one meal break. Nick: I'll check the 7.5 fuse once I get home tomorrow. I...

The Fruition of Obsession -- 310,000 mile makeover --

Well, got the gte in tonight... But something's not right. ECU has power at the B+ terminal, but there is no Check Engine light at any time. Car seems to have power everywhere in the cabin. The fuel pump even starts to go when I turn key to start, but nothing happens. No crank, no CEL, no...

Quick Help! GTE swap and now wont start, no CEL light

Hey, I just dropped a GTE in my NA chassis. 90 NA chassis, late 89 block and harness. All ECU connections are plugged in, but two connectors near the ECU do not match up and are not connected. CEL light does not come on at any time, but I can hear the fuel pump whirring when the key is on...

The Fruition of Obsession -- 310,000 mile makeover --

So far things are going pretty well, but the head is pretty shot. I had to helicoil about 12 of the threads in the head. I'll be happy if it will last for a few years at ~10psi. I was supposed to get up early today and have a roommate help me pull the old engine out completely, but I slept...

The Fruition of Obsession -- 310,000 mile makeover --

Pulled the car into the garage tonight. Started disconnecting the motor at 7:30pm and by midnight I had it ready to pull. For working by myself, I thought that was an ok time. :) Yesterday was valve stem seal and shim adjustment. Not fun at all. Where she sits now: Official BEFORE engine...

    for the iPhone fans...

Ya, I know that's not Apple's fault, but it's the whole mentality. Too many people have an unhealthy bias for anything Apple and think if it's a competitor to anything Apple, it doesn't stand a chance because it simply isnt made by Apple. Apple makes some great stuff, but I will always be the...

    for the iPhone fans...

I sell phones and that is SOOO representative of my daily routine now. In my area Sprint is far more reliable. I switched from at&t and went to Sprint. I won an iphone and I GLADLY gave it away. No joke, with AT&T in Denver, it is very common for at&t users to not be able to make or receive...

    88 Turbo: The Undead

Rebuild wasn't too much. Just gaskets, hoses, and a little machine work. Came out to about 800 total I think for all parts and machining. When you do it yourself it's really not expensive provided you're starting with a clean block and know what the hell you're doing. It was a completely stock...

    Dyno off a smarthphone

I use adyno for android and it's consistent. I get 140 whp on my na +/- 5 hp. Im not sure how close that is to the real number but it's consistent for me. It will be fun to see what the turbo swap does.

The Fruition of Obsession -- 310,000 mile makeover --

^^Ya, I lucked out with the chassis. ZERO rust, a few small dents and overall good paint. And of the 3 mk3's I've owned, the black NA with 300+k miles has the least blown suspension out of any of them, haha. I wonder if somewhere one of the previous owners snuck in a shock replacement without...

The Fruition of Obsession -- 310,000 mile makeover --

All basic parts are here and the build is under way! New squirter bolts installed and the crank mains checked out at .035 to just under .05mm. Oil pan has a fresh coat of high temp silver paint and the factory new oil pump is shimmed and ready to go. Tonight I'll get measurements on rod...
