I did a manual swap in my 88 turbo. Using stock w58 clutch and no problems so far. Holds boost just fine. I treat it pretty easy though.
You just need to jumper the 3 wire connector like modmonster said. You'll need to rewire the reverse sensor and if you want a clutch safety, you'll need to...
There are hours upon hours of reading for you here. :)
I just went through a gte swap on my beloved 90 na and trust me, you have ALL the knowledge you need on these forums to do the whole thing and know exactly what you're doing.
My sig has a link to my bhg tutorial. Although it's on an NA...
All the new 2-way remote start's with security from Viper INCLUDE a turbo timer. If you haven't bought an alarm yet, I'd go that route. I love my 5701. I have a very long range and it's worked well for me. Batteries go out every few months, but it's hardly a cost to consider. I spend maybe 5...
This forum is about furthering the information base for the mk3 Supra (In my opinion). It is NOT about being the nicest group of people on Earth helping every outstretched hand that spends ten seconds writing a poorly constructed, heavily misspelled and generally uneducated question. If you want...
There's a perfectly good reason you don't see many high power builds on an NA 2JZ.
2JZ's are relatively cheap to modify when you're turbo and can make loads of power with a small amount of cash compared to what it would take to get an NA 2JZ over 300 to the wheels...
Towed it very painfully to it's new home (Townhome garage).
I'm going to do a head swap with a spare head I have. 3 angle valve job, OEM composite HG
Changes in part plans:
Die Hard Platinum Battery
Greddy HeadgasketGenuine Toyota Head Gasket
ARP Studs <-- Still debating this one. The motor...
ugh, pain in the ass. Sounds like it might be an automated program doing something strange. I'm not aware of any way to track where those internet calls come from. :(
Yup, always check or replace bearings if you pull the pan. It's a huge PITA to deal with later and something VERY easy to do when the engine is out.
Good luck to ya, hopefully the crank isn't damaged beyond repair and new bearings (maybe undersized) with a crank grind will remedy the situation.
You have dozens of hours of reading to do if you want to keep that car in good shape mechanically.
There are a TON of mods on that and if you don't know all the basics and a bunch of the advanced knowledge required to know how your car works you won't own a running mk3 for long, plain and...
Very common problem and can be a pain to fully eradicate. Almost ANY non-sealed battery can leak over time. I'm itching to switch mine out for a gel battery (Optima or Die Hard Platinum) just so I dont have to keep dealing with that acid problem.
Do what the last poster said to get rid of it...

I hope Aaron and a few other vendors read that and take it to heart. I choose my mods VERY, VERY carefully and if there is any doubt as to the install effort required that makes a HUGE difference in my purchasing. I think it's perfectly logical for any vendor to have 10+ pics of install...
