So explain to us why the lines fail, rather than just saying "a few people have had problems. So don't use them"
If we went by that logic.. nobody would have a 7M anymore would they? :p

Pretty sure the harnesses are the same. And you can use an auto ecu on a manual car, hell, you can even use an auto harness on a manual car. But you cannot use manual ecus or harnesses on auto cars.
I was getting excited to start working on my engine again.. I even ordered washers for my ARP studs, and assembly lube and rings. Then the machine shop called. Their surfacer had been tied up for the week, so they finally got around to that.. Then they went to hone it, and the block I got has a...
I can speak from experience that 7Ms equipped with a 6M crank have a different pulley than those with a 7M crank. I can get pictures if you really want them.
The 6M pulley has a kinda hollowed out center, whereas the 7M pulley is flat.

Just because the engine doesn't have a BHG doesn't mean the block surface is perfect.
My late block 7M with 100k miles and no BHG had to be decked 20 thou to clean up. And there was still some discoloration between the coolant holes.
Deck the block and head or run an oem gasket. Simple as...
Well a, wrong section..
And b.. if you don't want it to collect rain water you should probably buy an antenna that will fill the hole...

Maybe you should fix the problem of them locking up before upgrading. Chances are the problem will still be there after getting a bbk..

My dad actually put 87 in my car at one time. Ran just fine. Everyone always says GEs have high compression.. but I would still consider it a low compression engine. 9.1:1 is NOT that high.
Hell, I was about to boost my N/A, but lack of high octane fuel (e85) around my area changed my mind...
Well.. Now I have nothing to do until I get my engine back.. -_- Shimmed the cams, and assembled the rest of the valve train. And set my painted covers on just to see what it would look like.. I think it will look pretty kick ass!
Thoughts? Also, I set the all the clearances to roughly...
It was kind of a blessing in disguise. I forgot to tell them about the timing belt tensioner, and I was kind of worried about the high compression pistons.. So I got lower mileage pistons that are in way better condition, and low compression to boot. This time around I gave them a list of...
I used a tool designed for OHV engines.. Not OHC. A little something like the picture.
Then i took an old craftsman 11/16th deep well socket and cut the side off of it, and put it in between the valve spring and the tool. Worked really well for getting them off. Not so much for back on...
