Wow, I always wondered exactly what triggers TEMS to go to the firmest setting. This explains why I'll be sitting in my driveway sometimes and it'll have 3 lights on... then I start rolling back slowly and it's back to 2. That was confuzzling...
Thanks JJ, I'll go dig up my dad's ancient multimeter. I think I set my timing when the engine was relatively cold too, I'll go look at it when it's hot.
 5k RPM without oil... I think you'll be pulling the engine anyway so you can check for leaks when it's out of the car. Why did you rev that high?
So no vacuum lines are hooked up on the exhaust side at all? I'm not sure if this would happen at 2500 rpm, but if your wastegate pressure line isn't hooked up the turbo will spool too fast and you'll hit fuel cut.
What happens when it gets to 2500 rpm? Is it a rev limiter type sound or does...
If you can make some $$$ reselling the Lexus, that is a good idea if you don't want it. But from what it sounds like, you do like the Lexus and it's been at least a reliable DD. Speaking for myself, a lot of the time I wish my Supra were just the sort of car I could get in and drive every day...
Very nice! My car is the same color, down to the missing window trip pieces and messed up paint. I even have tinted blinkers O_o I thought I'd be getting a darker colored car when I looked at pictures of it but the light gunmetal color really is nice. Can't wait until yours is painted up, I've...
Took me about 3 days to actually get around to buying a pump =( The one I had years ago broke and I just used this really cheap electric one that pumped slower than anything I've ever seen and vibrated like mad. It pumped air into the line but I couldn't hear the air escaping and wasn't even...
AAAAhahahha!!! Ok, I went outside and bicycle pumped the wastgate (had to go to wal-mart at like 11:00 to get one...) and no movement. Hmm.... there's a hissing noise.
Turns out my wastegate vacuum line had a crack in it, but it was right at the nipple facing the turbo where I couldn't see it...
^True that. Unless you have a couple thousand over the original buying price lying around, don't buy a heavily modded car, especially with an engine swap...
I'm having a really weird problem that just started yesterday when I took the Supra out for a quick spin with the exhaust silencer in to see if that helped my overboosting problem (thanks everyone who's been helping me with that!)
Whenever I push the gas/open the throttle, my check engine...
No, I've seriously never done it. I know what he meant by rev, I just thought that when the car was in park the tranny locked or something. I don't drive autos much and haven't ever taken one apart =\
You need a grammar checker too =) It's "society's" not "societies" in this case.
Just messing with you :icon_mrgr
I would honestly trade my Supra, mods and all, for one like that. And they probably wouldn't take it seeing as they are trying to sell theirs...
Yeah, that's on the list of things to do when I pull the turbo for porting. Unfortunately, I just got 3 immunization shots and my left arm is quite sore =\ They only told me after the shots that I would be sore for "a few days." Now I know why fuel cut is mentioned so much though.
I see what you mean now... hmm. Now that I think about it, the lexus AFM And 550s are pretty much tricking the ECU. I'm not all that excited about doing that to my car, but if porting the wastegate doesn't help I guess I don't have much of a choice.
Poodles, your mod list looks almost exactly...
Hmm... maybe that's it. I'll ask around, even though it's probably useless to try and prevent it. I did shower at a friend's house once and used this different shampoo that was pretty cool, it looked like I got a haircut or something and it made my hair all soft.
