The noise comes from a 4 valve engine at high speed, and having the intake silencer removed in favor of a K&N, or whatever you put on. When ACIS works correctly, the torque curve will be flat. When it does not work, it will spike up around 4000 rpm, which is why it changes over at that point.

If you can feel it kick in, then it does not work. Low speed torque is deficient for the plenum size and RPM use. So that increases low speed power. If yours does not work, then you will always be on the high rpm curve.

I went to the Cartech site this morning. They list the inlet and outlet at 2.5". Maybe they have a newer one now?
