500 rwhp on stock headgasket and bolts.

The headgasket would fail for only a few reasons, and believe it or not, 500 hp on a good tune isn't one of them. If you lean it out, and have partial detonation, you could deform it. But that isn't the gaskets fault. The other way is over heat it, and with dissimilar metals, it would peel...

Dyno'd my car tonight... get ready to laugh

The curve starts to late to see if you have your low end curve. The default for the system(ACIS) is high end. That is why torque peak is 4800 RPM, exactly as where Toyota says. You have high miles, and low compression. Not necessarily way off and smoking. But it is low. Tune up parts and...

    ***The Red Supras Thread***

I like the first two mk3turbo. I also like the Cobra R wheel, but prefer satin. And I prefer the JZA80 turbo wheel even more. Stock clean body for the win.

Auto Transmission Won't Shift At WOT in 2nd with ECT

The faster the engine speed, the more pressure you want on a shift. And conversely, lower speed doesn't need a quicker firmer shift. So lower pressure is used(along with those accumalators) to soften the shift. Which is why Toyota put that cable on the throttle on an electronicaly controlled...

    Ignition issue 87 N/A

I just wanted him to see why the car doesn't run with old age until it cools a bit. If it starts and is running sort of rough, pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator. Be sure to pinch the vacuum hose. If you car magicly runs noticably better with more fuel pressure, then you...

Auto Transmission Won't Shift At WOT in 2nd with ECT

No. That only increases line pressure under acceleration for quicker shifting. And this is why you don't do the cable mod on the A340 mod thread on SF.

chugging under heavy throttle in higher gears

Not to nitpick but...pulse width will not increase with a larger airflow meter, it will go down. Flow through the meter goes up, but Hz goes down. Lower restriction. Other than that...

    altitude and timing

JJ, I don't have my old 852 course here, but it sure seems like that engine load is a correction factor for ignition. The Autoshop page(older course) on TCCS says the same thing. edit; It says engine load is a base factor, along with Ne and G1. Not a correction. Jimmy, I didn't mess with my...

    altitude and timing

Like a totally different car. One day when you aren't doing anything, get on I-70 and go east. About half way across Kansas you will wonder what happened.

Discussion on the potential of the 7MGE

True. The restriction is displacement and fixed cam timing. That is why it is popular to use a turbo. You are making the engine bigger. The best inline six I can think of off the top of my head is the last BMW with 335 flywheel horsepower. That was with a lot of rpm. And variable cam...

chipped piston can still function correctly?

Nice pitting. Those holes look beyond .002". So after the machine shop fixes it, you will beyond specs. That is where the thicker MHG comes in. Actually, you need a machined straight edge with a .002" feeler gauge to check the depth. But they look deeper than 2. I would still be leary of...

Injection Duration Monitoring Directly from the TCCS?

There is limited serial data through the port. And you can plug in with it, instead of the paper clip and counting. It seems like the scanner(Vetronix) and adapters with software runs close to $5000. But that was 10 year ago that I inquired about it.

Auto Transmission Won't Shift At WOT in 2nd with ECT

What? So the ECT button has nothing to do with your symptom? Unlike the opening post? Glad you checked. What about with the range selector unplugged. Two seperate issues. Maybe. Get that fixed. That is the neutral start in the range selector, and not a part of your issue. Just to be...

Auto Transmission Won't Shift At WOT in 2nd with ECT

Unplug the range selector on the trans and drive it. Do you have stock size tires? Upshift is based on output sensor speed and TPS voltage. The ECT button increases the speed at which upshift occurs. Nothing more.

    Exhaust manifold - flow

I was thinking of an advertisement for Treadstone performance. But the manifold looks the same. One is made, both sell it would be my guess. http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=325&cat_key=52&prodname=Toyota+Supra+2JZGTE+Turbo+Manifold After further review, they don't...

Tuning Question (How much more will a tune do for me)?

You have a high rpm hold up. Strange with that downpipe. I wouldn't worry about tuning until you figure that out. Rich is safe. Do tune it, just make sure whatever is corking your system is figured out. 5000 RPM, might as well be a stock Windsor.
