Check the 100 amp Alt fuse in the box under the hood as well.

    Code 34 and 71

Nick is correct...it also means you have a CA car since they are the only USDM models that have the EGR temp sensor. Code 34 will only light up the CEL as long as the over boost condition is present, but will be stored in the ECU as long as power is supplied to it...you ECU may have had it...

Gun guys: STI LS 9 opinion

If guns offend you, why do you enter a thread clearly about guns? Stick your head back in the sand and all will be well ;) Jon - I've handled an STI...he looks and feels like a fine 1911 clone and it would be easy to carry concealed. Haven't had a chance to fire one though.

Temperature Spike, NOT BHG, also Code 24 & 31

You're welcome. :icon_bigg Once you fix it, fill with no more than 50/50 mix coolant (since you live in the Bay area). It will take several heat up/cool down cycles to get all the air out of the system, so check the coolant daily and take it easy for a few days. I would still replace...

Temperature Spike, NOT BHG, also Code 24 & 31

NP ;) One more thing on the clutch...when you start the car cold, you should be able to hear the fan roaring away for about 15-30 sec at idle. Then the noise will die out. If it's not doing this, it's the clutch.

Temperature Spike, NOT BHG, also Code 24 & 31

I would change the thermostat and gasket too...I like the Stant Superstat vs the Toyota OEM. You want the 190 deg one.

That hissing was likely from the rad cap to the overflow. So this is a 10 blade fan and the JDM clutch...bet the clutch has no (or little) oil left in it. Did you change the thermostat or is it the same one that came on the JDM?

Serious power for a drag car? The 2JZ ;)

Temperature Spike, NOT BHG, also Code 24 & 31

Sounds like your fan clutch is toast...is it a turbo or NA fan and clutch? As soon as you got off the freeway, no more airflow across the radiator ;) The waterfall sound is from having air in the system...after what happened, that would be expected. I would have the cooling system pressure...

    need a little help

Could you be more specific about which lights are out and what beep (i.e door warning, seatbelt)? Check all your fuses...in the drivers side kick panel and under the hood. Specifically the Dome and Gauge fuses. You will have to get the speedo cable from the dealer...or, see if someone has...

    head questions

ARP bolts are also re-usable, however, the studs are a better choice for the reasons previously mentioned. I'll 2nd the motion for used ARP studs...they have already been heat cycled eliminating the need for a re-torque after the HG is installed.

Changing coolant. Anything to take care of?

Change the thermostat ;) Keep in mind the flush Chris is talking about will not happen until the motor is warm enough to open the thermostat. If you want to speed things up, you could just remove the old thermostat, re-install the housing, and flush with no thermostat installed (motor...

what is the torque pattern for the head

This is what Chris is referring to using ARP bolts/studs: http://www.arp-bolts.com/Tech/TechInstall.html Good read...the loosening/tightening over several cycles to get the most accurate torque reading is under the "Friction" section.

Bondie - You ever been in a combat aircraft trying to ID ground vehicles from 10,000 feet or higher? Working a "kill box" in which no friendly forces are supposed to enter or be present? Ever have to make a combat decision to fire or not in seconds? I have...in a "fast mover"...a heck of a...

What size hex socket are the head bolts

Here's a pic...it goes in two locations where the aluminum meets the block. The pic shows the drivers side, there other is the same on the passenger side. The 2nd pic shows it with the HG installed...you can see the silicone on the right, the left is under the HG...

Type of fuel required, plus knock 88 t ?

I wouldn't go over 30%...read these links: http://www.elektro.com/~audi/audi/toluene.html http://www.team.net/sol/tech/octane_b.html As Adjuster said, you can mix in a small amount of tranmission fluid as a lubricant. I have not and have experienced no problems, but I'm also only using...

Type of fuel required, plus knock 88 t ?

Xylene & Toluene are two solvents (among others) gasoline blenders use to increase octane...it should not show in a tester and does not contain lead. I use 1 gallon of Xylene (it has higher octane per gallon) per tank...that will increase octane from 91 to about 93. It has the same effect...
