Here's all you'll need to know about the stock fan clutch, but were afraid to ask ;)

If you do decide to go electric, highly recommend you get a dual core radiator to up the cooling capacity of the system.
Heehee...meant as a compliment Ian. Heck I already have an '89 "Suprastein"...if I had a nice DD, might as well follow your lead and make a real "Frakensupra". One that eats Vipers for lunch :evil2:
Ohhh...I got to pay alright, just not cold cash. Uncle Sam has a nasty habit of sending us off to desert environments and special delivering packages for him. The addressee wasn't too happy about that...kept putting up all these big black puffs of smoke up everywhere. Not to mention the...
Yep! That would be it...recovering addict here ;)
IJ - That year Morano had a 350, correct?
Loved that Chevelle...kick myself in the arse every time I think about when I sold it. Didn't handle all that great, but it was typical for the day...to heck with aerodynamics, lets use torque!
What..get outta here! I don't believe it! My 1st car was a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 ;)
Yeah...and I know what toy you're talking about that brings that big ole grin to your face too! The one that turns you into an adrenaline junky :evil2:
Bet I know what you have in mind :evil5:
According to RP's website, the 5W-30 is a SL/GF-3 oil. It does not have a lot of moly in it...Red Line is much higher.
I was going to make the same comment as JJ about the silicon...I do believe RP uses a silicon based anti-foaming agent. But the high Al and slightly high Fe leads me to...
Better flow...usually in combo with a ported head. Depends on what you plan on running for a turbo (flow wise) and what HP you are trying to hit.
Cost...the valve seats have to be re-sized to fit the larger valves, plus cost of the port job. Highly recommend upgraded springs with oversized...
Red Line MT-90 is excellent...it's 75W-90. It would be my 1st choice on a manual tranny.
If you are going to use Royal Purple, get the Max-Gear 80W-90...the 75W-90 will work well too, especially in a bit colder climate.
Do not use any friction modifier additives in the tranny.
Ummm...yeah it will. Tried to pass AZ emissions w/out an EGR last summer...treid every trick I know. Couldn't do it (4 tries)...finally had to install the EGR and it passed the 5th try with flying colors.
The block "should" be machined to the Cometic RA spec (50 RA)...on the other hand, there are several folks on this forum that has got away with not doing it. Personally, I will use a stock HG if I cannot have the block machined...it is good boost wise (with ARP hardware, torqued to ARP spec)...
