^ It does. For idle control. You may or may not notice a change without it though. The usual symptom is an occasional lower idle by 50 rpm or so. Depends on what you do with the input.
Bill: It's 1/8 BPT. From your side of the pond.
OP: Sounds like a bad connection. You may want to check the...
That's what I did. Iirc there's a caliper rebuild kit that's separate from the wheel cylinder kit. Since I periodically flushed the brake system from day one there was no corrosion and the method worked out well.
It's always something simple eh?
I know Marshfield well. Because my best friends were from Pembroke I spent many a weekend there as a teenager. Good times. I sure miss the seafood back there. At times I'd kill for a big chunk of haddock.
1) What's the rpm just after a cold start? Is it high and then falls as the engine warms up?
2) Do you hear a clicking in the engine bay just after turning the engine off?
3) Cooodddeees?
Cali? Use a 5-30 oil. Heavier if consumption is high. 10-40 for example.

The MIL being on means the ECU is powered at Batt+. That means the EFI main relay is closed. That gets turned on by the ECU, which turns the main relay on after it sees power coming in on IGN SW from the...
Same harnesses (engine and chassis) as before? Sounds like something is misplugged. The MIL circuit is pretty simple. Should have invested money and effort into electrical learning instead of making your car look better with say, I dunno, one of those aluminum CPS covers. That way you wouldn't...
Nearly plug and play? Looking at the other thread it's the same as any install. You splice in the wires. The only thing I see different is he's supplying a few trinkets and instructions on which wires to splice into and where to access them. That's worth 300 bucks more over similar...
I agree. Those things don't work. Period. Some of us can be dicks about it because we paid attention in science class. He should do the same.
Hey, what was it like being 16? Was it as scary and helpless as he makes it sound? Wish I could remember ;)
I understand. We're just having some fun and you've been a good sport about it.
You smell gas because the fuel pump and cold start injector will still run like that when cranking. They're likely the source of the "white smoke". Hook everything in the induction system back up and it should fire...
Yep, what we have going on here is a forest for the trees thing. Or maybe it's worse than that. Maybe it's a Scarecrow thing. You know: Dorothy, Kansas, Toto...;)
BlackDy, lemme help you out here. The guy may indeed have other problems. At this point we really don't know. What we do know (some...
Hmmm....you could have checked it yourself in 15 seconds. That said if it's working disconnect the battery again with the engine running at your own risk:

What is fuel pressure or pump current when this happens? Put another way does it still do it with FP and B+ jumpered? Any aftermarket electronics on the engine? I doubt it's the TPS but what is it's voltage at WOT? Codes?
^ It might be now. Yeah, load dumps are bad news. No wonder people have electrical problems with these cars. Fortunately for him it sounds like the alternator is dead.
Could have been worse....could have pinned him to the wall and put him in a chair for life.
As far as the the deal goes why on earth would anyone pay $450 for something that can be bought for $70 with a one way remote and $119 with a two way? For example the Crimestopper CS-2016. Long range...
