Viscosity by itself does not affect max oil temps...BTW, 210 deg F is the perfect temp for the oil. If you are in the 200-220 deg range, you do not have a problem...the oil viscosity for a 5W-30 is dead on at those temps for stock bearing clearances on the 7M.
If you are getting higher temps...
Man...it's not the springs. The only thing the springs *may* be doing is making the noise a bit more noticeable due to the increased spring pressure. It's the valve clearances causing the problem...whenever you have a valve job done, the clearances have to be adjusted. The valve seats were...
Seems the previous owner also believes the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy are real too...he must ;)
First read the stickys in this section...then read this:

All 10 pages...make sure you understand what Dr Haas is getting at. There is no such thing as an oil...
Well...getting pissed is not going to help either. The shop has the head. Being rational about it will work a heck of a lot better than getting into a yelling match. Depends on how far you want to go...if the shop is screwing around, you don't have to use them again...I do think I would want...
Does your spare head have a fresh valve job?
The purpose of a vacuum test is to determine the seal on the valves...if it failed, the logical thing to do would be a valve job. Also, did they replace the seals as part of it?
They should have called you...are you sure they did not try...
Yep...that's it:

You're talking about testing the AFM...the wiring will have to be tested from end to end to the ECU. Or do it in sections using a insulator piercing probe. I would do a visual inspection 1st by tracing the wire through the harness...very often the wire insulation is brittle/cracked where it...
Valvoline straight 30W for 1st 100 miles...change oil to Valvoline 30W and run for 1500 miles...change to syn oil using a 0W or 5W-30. WalMart SuperTech filters are fine for running the 30W...use a Wix or PureOne when you switch to syn oil. Take a look at the Oil Section for specifics.
