Code 31 On a Brand New AFM?!?

Because the code can also be caused by the wiring ;) This is the pitfall of throwing parts at a problem vs testing to determine cause. Unfortunately, considering this is a new AFM module, it was an expensive lesson.

    cometic HG install

If its a new MHG, do not put anything (i.e copper spray) on it: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29335 Yout torque ARP studs to 80 ft/lbs or ARP head bolts to 75 ft/lbs...both using moly as the lube. This is ARP spec...your bolts/studs should have come with a spec sheet...

    oil temp/pressure question

Yep...you're reading pressure basically at the pump. The stock location is where you should take readings. Make sure you have the oil stat orientated correctly...if you are feeding to the closed side, pressure on the filter/block side will be high due to the restriction. Also make sure your...

    Driveshaft/Rear End question.

Drive shaft length depends on the tranny...most N/A's came with a W58, turbos have a R-154. The lengths are different. Here are the differential options by year/type: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32898

    Code 35?

You can use an *auto harness* with a 5 speed ECU, but not a *5 speed harness* with an auto ECU. If you have a 5 speed and auto harness, you should be using a 5 speed ECU...the year (same color plugs) has to match. ;)

Can Royal Purple with LSD additive in R154 cause harder shifts?

Red Line MT-90 for the tranny, 75W-90 for the LSD are excellent choices. Red Line 75W-90 already has friction modifier in the formula...you should not need any additional modifier. The only down side I have seen with the Red Line 75W-90 LSD oil is if you have a noisy LSD, it can make it...

    Crower cams info/input please?

Ok...by head work you mean = port, polish, +1mm valves. Just looking at the 264 cams from a "theory" stand point, it looks like you would get a 20-40 HP increase in mid to high range rpm. That would be due to the additional lift/duration. Since there are very few 700 HP 7M's out there...

Oil running past my turbo seals? Too thin?

Agree 100%...the rings need time to seat. Plus, with tight tolerances on the bearings an oil that will flow is much better for them...i.e. a 0W, 5W, or 10W-30. Change your oil at 100 miles or so to the same dino oil. Don't change over to a synthetic until the 1500 mile point. You could...

Figgie - Opinion on the 264 cams and a SP61? How well will they work with a stock ECU and a mild port?

to copper spray or not to copper spray

Just hang the gasket on a metal rod between something tall enough so it does not touch the ground. Spray both sides with a good coat (no runs), wait till tacky, pick it up by the edge, and carefully place on the block. You get one chance to drop it on the index pins ;) You do not want to...

to copper spray or not to copper spray

Using copper spray on a stock HG is fine Nash. Works well to fill in the small imperfections on the block/head decks. I've used it on several now. Just be very careful laying it down on the block one it's tacky...make sure the index pins are in place. You DON'T want to use it on a new MHG...
