Just read through this thread and it looks like there's a few things that need made to be clear:
- The most important thing is both the block/head decks must be flat (Brent you are correct)
- For a MHG, you have to meet the RA (smoothness) spec of the MHG used...that varies between 30-50...
If they are Denso (made in Japan), they are pretty good...if they are the ones from Thailand, they aren't any better than a cheap Fram. If you have NO OTHER CHOICE...the Fram Extra Guard or X2 filters are the best they make.
Take a look at this thread, it lists who makes what filters near...
This is a good example why you can't completely trust the numbers on the bottle ;)
And, you are correct that the most wear on an engine is at cold start.
The 0W-40 has a viscosity of 78.3 cst at 40 deg C...the 5W-30 has a viscosity of 72.8 cst at the same temp. The 5W-30 is actually...
Yeah...I see your point. Must not have been a Cressida motor...now that I think back on it, the oil dipstick tube on the block was in the correct location.
Learn something new every day ;)
"From what I understood about the oil was that it is the only true synthetic and yes royal purple, redline, etc. are full synthetic, Eneos uses a different process (from what I had heard)."
Read the above sentence again...does it make sense? There's two problems with it..."I understood" and...
Oil color is a very poor indicator of when it needs to be changed ;)
Read this:

Draining it to determine if there is coolant present with other BHG indications = good idea.
Your statements concerning Eneos oil are some of the worst misinformation I have see on this subject.
1) Enos is not "the only people to make a 'true' synthetic oil"
If you had taken the time to read the information in this section, it becomes bluntly obvious...here's 3 off the top of my...
You're smart to change from the 5W-50 ;)
Of the 3 oils, I would use the 5W-30 for a couple of reasons...it is the only API/ACEA rated oil of the 3 listed. It has very good cold flow viscosity and is thicker at ops temp than most 30W oils you see. It is almost identical to German Castrol in...
Basically she said a lot of nothing Rick...part of it is a repeat of the stuff on Castrol spec sheets. "Products may vary in raw materials as a result of the regional production facility."...translation, German Castrol is a Grp IV PAO based oil...North American Castrol SYNTEC SAE 0W-30 is a Grp...
7M-GE motors for the Supra & Cressida uses the same oil pump (different pick-ups). The 7M-GTE uses a higher volume pump (higher gearing) to supply the CT-26, cooling circuit, and squirters on a turbo block. They interchange...installing a turbo oil pump on a NA motor is fine (better actually)...
