Jose speaks the truth...I have the dual FAL fans on a dual core radiator. Works fine for stop/go traffic and on the highway where the air flow is good. If you do anything else with the car, you will have coolant temp issues.
I'm going with the stock fan/clutch and shroud.
The problem with powder coat is the heat...I've seen powder coating dull and even change color shade...it's going to depend on the material used and the skill of the person applying it. Heat resistant paint is about as good, if you do it right. A polish with clear anodizing doesn't...
You were told wrong...Fp and +B have to be jumped (just like the TSRM says) for the pump to run with the motor off.
Stop listening to your friends and RTFM.
If you can't find the time to check for codes, there is no point in "guessing"...it's a complete waste of time.
The valve covers are cast aluminum...you can polish or paint. Been done many times...I chrome ceramic coated mine. Got another set sitting right here ;)
BTW - the search function is your friend.
The FP does not run unless the engine is cranked. Here's how to test if the pump is operating:

The check engine light does not come on for all codes...here's how to check for stored codes...
^^^ Agreed ;)
Running a motor without a fan in Phoenix AZ, in the summer is actually an incredibility dumb thing to do considering it was 110 deg F last week and it's going to stay that way for the next couple months.
The coolant mix needs to be at least 50/50. I hope you have a...
IJ nailed it...read, don't skim...the OP removed the Viton from the MHG. The reaction between copper spray and Viton is the problem...there is no problem if the Viton is removed (on a new or used MHG).
Zazzn - If that guy is like some I see around here, the PermaCool is better because he's using one ;)
I bet he's not running a thermostat to the cooler either...bad move if I'm correct. Send me the link to the thread...I'd like some amusement today.
The stacked plate coolers (like B&M) are...
7M...no doubt. Took me several weeks to find a good one. You can also look for a late model Cressida...the good think about one of these is it's likely led a fairly benign life ;)
There's nothing intrinsically wrong with running platinum plugs...they will provide good service even in boosted applications. Platinum plugs are not as efficient as copper, but the harder platinum will resist erosion much better. Using the correct heat range and properly gapped, platinum...
Perfect! Thank you ;)
Yes you can replace the stock cooler on a 2J. You will have to connect the two coolant hoses together (replace with a single hose) and get a sandwich adapter if you want to keep the filter in the same location (assuming there is sufficient head room for the plate...
Guys - according to his profile this is a 2J...iirc, the oil cooler circuit is different and uses a oil-to-coolant cooler. Still, a good oil-to-air cooler will be more efficient and a thermostat will help get the oil (and keep it) at ops temp better.
I moved this to the Other Engine Tech...
That's interesting, I just got a PM from a Toronto guy about the exact same subject. ;)
Same reply:
B&M coolers are top-of-the-line IMO...there will be minimum (if any) pressure drop. If you're going high HP on this motor, I would use -10 lines and run the biggest B&M cooler you can fit...
