i just bought a pwr radiator (size of the hoover dam) and i was having the temperature go up when i drive it alot or hard with the stock radiator and flexalite fans. now with the new radiator im having the same problem but i dont have the fans on. its also a 1jz motor :)

the only thing i can think of is i need to put the fans back on and its also like a 75% water mix?

^^^ Agreed ;)
Running a motor without a fan in Phoenix AZ, in the summer is actually an incredibility dumb thing to do considering it was 110 deg F last week and it's going to stay that way for the next couple months.

The coolant mix needs to be at least 50/50. I hope you have a thermostat installed.
Do not drive the car until you install a radiator and shroud...that is if you want to keep this engine for any length of time.

BTW - wrong section...this should be in the Other Engine Tech section. Thread moved. Please pay attention where you post.

Get Rid of the electric fans also. Flexalite fans can't cool the 1jz. Get a mechanical fan and fan shrould or switch to a hydro fan.

they worked fine on my stock radiator until it got 110 out, so i think a pwr with fals would work fine dont you think?

I've tried all conbinations of electric fans/radiator combos. The mechanical fan works great with high heat. We went out drifting in Arizona and never had issues with water temp all day. The car had a mechanical fan and a stock radiator and shroud. all others with electric fans that day didn't do quite well.

Jose speaks the truth...I have the dual FAL fans on a dual core radiator. Works fine for stop/go traffic and on the highway where the air flow is good. If you do anything else with the car, you will have coolant temp issues.

I'm going with the stock fan/clutch and shroud.

Personally, when it's 110 outside, I don't drive the Supra. Up to about 95-100 OAT, the gauge stabilizes at the 4 O'clock position.
