It wasn't tweaked to the best of my knowledge...I borrowed from a friend of mine it in an effort to pass emissions a couple years ago. It was an auto tranny ECU. I can check with him to see if he still has it.
This is the 7M JDM ECU? I ran one to 130 mph with plenty to go. No piggyback to defeat an RPM/MPH (KPH) cut.
Here's what Dean Marcum had to say about one...no mention of a speed limiter.

Out of curiosity:
- What RPM did this happen?
- The high speed run, how long was it sustained before this happened?
- What kind of spark plugs and what was the gap?
- Did you have an AFPR installed; if so what kind?
- Was the motor tuned with the FCON and what AFRs?
- Was a functioning...
It will cause the ECU to enter fail-safe function. I look at the back-up function of the ECU as "limp mode"...only the basic functions of the ECU operate to allow the engine to run.
In any case, code 52 is due to failure of the knock sensor(s) or the circuit. Any detonation detected by the...
Raw - You're never too old (or experienced) to learn something. Keep in mind this is the Tech Section...post wrong info and you will get called on it. You need to be sure of what you post, not "I think" or "off the top of my head".
You are wrong about the stat, and it's not just JJ telling...
On this car, to trouble shoot any electrical problem, a multimeter is a must...no way around it. Any "advice" is speculation without it. Buy one and learn how to use it or take it to a competent mechanic.
Might want to check the fuses in the engine bay box behind the battery.
To disable...
Here is how to do the igniter test:

How do you know the igniter is grounded?
Here's a simple mod that ensures it:

For the CPS, 1st of all make sure it is aligned like...
An alternative is sourcing a JDM M70 charcoal canister and mounting it in the passenger front wheel well, behind the rear well liner. Gets it out of the engine bay and works just as well as the USDM round canister.
If it fouls due to a rich mixture, very short...maybe a week.
It's going to depend on what your specific set-up is...you will have to run it to see. Even then, it's not the solution.
Looking for a "band-aid" for what the EGR does on a stock ECU is full of traps...it doesn't work very well...
Ummm...I think that's what I said ;)
Read my post carefully...a colder plug is not going to completely offset the effect of the EGR. It is a measure you can take, but you will still have to richen the mixture on a USDM ECU and that is going to make a colder plug more prone to fouling...
A colder plug has little effect on detonation due to a lean mixture, as in the case with the EGR in it's operation range. Colder plugs will help a misfire at high boost or (in extreme cases) pre-ignition due to a hot plug. The downside of a colder plug is poor cold start and fouling...spark...
