I would check the radiator cap and pressure test the coolant system for leaks. But, most of the time when it does this:

A NAPA block tester will confirm the presence of exhaust gas in the coolant system and a BHG.
Normally, I would agree. But, the water pump already has several other bolts holding it on and the stress/heat it's under is not that great. You are correct, a helicoil is stronger in aluminum. A drill tap is easier/cheaper to do...I'm sure it will get the job done.
Use either Toyota OEM (new) or ARP with 12pt nuts & washers (hold on to your wallet). The stop on the studs is there for a reason.
Your impact could have easily been the cause...galvanic corrosion between the steel stud and aluminum.
The shop helicoiling all of the stud holes did you a...
Short answer: Annealing makes the head soft.
1) Most of the time it's when the motor overheats due to the various reasons that are common on a 7M. Compounded by the owners insistance on driving it.
2) A soft head will deform...warpage is one way of looking at it.
Depends on your plans for the car...if you're going to rebuild it anyway, might be time to do it. The shaft would have to break to contact a set of stock rods.
Otherwise, I'd pull the shaft and inspect the bearing and pump drive gear. If they look good, replace the collar/seal and call it a...

Might want to read the stickies...what you think is a "synthetic" could easily be a hydrocracked dino oil ;)
That plate is not going to do a lot for ya, unless you plan on keeping the filter on the stock head, block the cooler feed line, and plug the oil pan return...basically run the cooler off the sandwich plate.
Take a look at the thread in post #2...conversion to a full flow, thermostat...
