I'd rebuild the original. You should at least tear down a JDM, check everything out, new oil pump. I've went the JDM route and was sorry I did, ended up rebuilding my original.
On top of the "Y" pipe there is a oval shaped plate with 4 bolts. If you don't have one then you have a JDM motor, or at least JDM "Y" pipe. At least I think that's what we're talking about, I don't have one, but I remember the one I took off was kind of plugged up.
