    I'd rebuild the original. You should at least tear down a JDM, check everything out, new oil pump. I've went the JDM route and was sorry I did, ended up rebuilding my original.

    On top of the "Y" pipe there is a oval shaped plate with 4 bolts. If you don't have one then you have a JDM motor, or at least JDM "Y" pipe. At least I think that's what we're talking about, I don't have one, but I remember the one I took off was kind of plugged up.

    From what I understand it's the initial timing, jumper wire, set dist., etc. The Ecu also adds an amount of timing as needed, there's different things that causes the ecu to add timing.     Have you noticed white foam inside the oil cap, or white smoke out the tailpipe?

    I'd think you just might be over filling it. Or maybe the cap is not doing it's job, it happens if you by a cheapo one.
