3.73 gears stock size 225/50/15 tires will be 178 mph @ 7000.
It's going to take either a very long road or a lot of power or both to see that speed ;)
If it doesn't have 4 gears and a lockable TC I don't want to know ;)
(then again my car never see's the strip so these things may only be important to me)
I use a Davies Craig EWP 110 here to help out in summer traffic and it works well in that configuration, ie: either pump can flow through the other depending on which is pumping faster.
I'm guessing the pump is cavitating trying to push that head of water at higher engine speeds.
You might want to try an electric booster pump in series set to only come on above xxx temp.
Koenig: What I'm saying is to get some data on what it's actually doing so you can make an informed decision and NOT use the shotgun approach of just replacing a shitload of parts that may or may not be the root cause ;)
A lot depends on tire diameters anything other than new 225/50/16's and it's going to be wrong then add in the inaccuracies as you go faster and it's sort of a speed estimation not a speedometer ;)
This is why I ask for gear/tire size/rpm or GPS verified when someone posts a speed.
Well you need to baseline the combination to see what it's actually doing.
It could just be the 20 year old pump laying down.
Without some real data you're just guessing and will end up playing musical parts until you stumble on it, this approach is both expensive and time consuming and...
Could possibly be the engine breathing a bit harder due to worn rings.
Take the Oil cap off and hold your hand over it then bring the revs up and see if it's puffy (positive pressure).
The danger with the concept of this thread is it's divisive (as is religion in general)
I'm seeing an Us/Them mentality here and it's sad that even on a car forum this is happening.
As a kid I travelled to a few countries and saw 1st hand what comes of this when taken to extremes (Northern...
I ran 30psi on a cometic no problems at all until I leaned it out and ran out of IC capacity during a long uphill pull.
I've also popped a couple of Stoppers during fuel system development
(1 when I blew the intake up between 3 cylinders)
