7M = ALWAYS + 1Qt always. It doesn't hurt and if things go bad it means you end up at stock full. 1 Qt low and hard on the brakes WILL RK a 7M :( (personal experience in this)

See how the centre is enclosed? There's a bunch of small worm gears in there. The Diff you have is a single wheel "open" centre.
