"Lag" is overrated as 1psi on the 40 is always going to produce more power than 1psi on a 30, and even if the larger turbo doesn't fully spool for another 1000 rpm by comparison it's still making more power to that point.
It all depends on how much boost you're trying to run V's Turbine AR but the 44mm is a good compromise and works well.
The Tial is faultless and I've run it from 5psi to 30psi.
